Episode #081

36 years ago tonight, something very special happened at 8:30 p.m., Eastern Time. It was the debut of a national network that would change the way television weather segments were done. Happy Anniversary to The Weather Channel! I was fortunate to have been on the launch team back in 1982, including anchoring that very first broadcast:

There’s a new book out that goes into great detail about all the work it took to put all of the pieces of a new network together. The main author is Dr. Joe D’Aleo, one of the co-founders of The Weather Channel. I asked him to be a guest to talk about those first few years of the Weather Channel’s history and about the new book.
